Home to the University of Florida, the largest and most research-intensive university in Florida, North Central Florida is bustling with innovative ideas and entrepreneurial activity. Biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and electronics businesses thrive in an area known for its competitive cost of living and abundance of natural resources, the convenience of large markets, and intermodal transportation corridors that facilitate global exchange. The urban centers of the region are Gainesville and Ocala.

The region is framed by two of Florida’s major interstate highways, I-75 and I-10, and several highways.
